Chandler, AZ Trash & Recycling: Holiday Pickup Schedule (2026)

Chandler's code does not write a holiday rule. Section 44-1 defines "Basic solid waste services" as collection "pursuant to a schedule developed by the Director to ensure that refuse will be collected once per calendar week and that recyclable materials will be collected once per calendar week," and it defines the Director as the Director of the Department of Public Works and Utilities or designee. Chapter 44 says nothing about collection on Thanksgiving, Christmas Day or New Year's Day, so the holiday table on the city's Trash and Recycling Collection Schedule page is the governing rule.

That table runs from Jan. 19, 2026 through Jan. 1, 2027. Seven holidays print "Recycling and trash ARE collected": Martin Luther King, Jr./Civil Rights Day, Presidents Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day observed, Labor Day and Veterans Day (Wednesday, Nov. 11). Three print "Recycling and trash are NOT collected": Thanksgiving (Thursday, Nov. 26, 2026), Christmas Day (Friday, Dec. 25, 2026) and New Year's Day (Friday, Jan. 1, 2027).

All three no-collection rows print the same two instructions: "If your regular collection day is Thursday, place your container at the curb on Friday by 6 a.m. Regular Friday collection moves to Saturday." The Christmas Day and New Year's Day rows repeat the Thanksgiving wording and the page gives no separate dates for the Saturday collections, so that sentence is the published rule. The table prints no row for Christmas Eve or New Year's Eve and says nothing about yard waste.

The area descriptions on the same page tie those days to routes. Blue Area trash and Yellow Area recycling are printed as Thursday collections. Orange Area trash and Green Area recycling are printed as Friday collections. Pink Area is trash Monday and recycling Wednesday. Alley trash collection can fall on a different day than the map shows, and the page tells alley customers to call 480-782-3510.

Section 44-5.4 sets the standing curb rule: containers go out "prior to 6:00 a.m. on the designated collection day," not before 6:00 p.m. the day before, and come in by 9:00 a.m. the day after collection. Christmas trees follow Section 44-6.5, which runs collection from the first business day after December 25th through the last regular recycling collection day of the second full week of January. As of October 13, 2026, the city's tree page still prints only the Dec. 26, 2025 - Jan. 16, 2026 season.
