Chandler, AZ Trash & Recycling: Pickup Rules & Schedules (2026)

Chandler City Code Section 44-2 sets the ground rules for what covered residences may put out for weekly collection, layered under the Section 44-1 definition that 'basic solid waste services' means refuse picked up once per calendar week and recyclables picked up once per calendar week. 3 requires refuse to be bagged in leak-proof plastic bags before it goes in the container, except for waste stored inside a building or vegetative waste kept for legitimate composting. 4 keeps recyclables loose - no plastic bags - and bars refuse or hazardous waste from the recycling container; mixing them can get the recycling container swapped for a second refuse container at an added fee.

5 bars 'unacceptable waste,' a list defined in Section 44-1 that includes liquid waste, septic pumpings, hazardous and household hazardous waste, sludge, vehicle bodies and tires, ammunition, medical and radioactive waste, and most concrete, dirt, gravel or livestock manure, plus anything that would keep the lid from closing. 6 caps the load at two hundred pounds for a curbside container and six hundred pounds for an alley container. 7 makes it unlawful to dump waste in a container the City has not assigned to you, or on any street, sidewalk, alley or right-of-way without Director authorization - a rule aimed squarely at illegal dumping in a neighbor's cart or in public space.
