Scottsdale, AZ Trash & Recycling: Holiday Pickup Schedule (2026)

Scottsdale's Solid Waste department publishes a residential single family home holiday collection schedule on scottsdaleaz.gov, last updated May 21, 2026. For 2026 it names two holidays that move pickup. On Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 26, there is no collection, Thursday collection moves to Friday, and Friday collection moves to Saturday. City offices are closed on Thursday, Nov. 26 and Friday, Nov. 27. On Christmas Day, Friday, Dec. 25, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday collections remain the same, there is no collection on Christmas Day, and Friday collection moves to Saturday. City offices are closed on Friday, December 25th.

The same table lists holidays on which collection service is not affected: Martin Luther King Jr. Day (Monday, Jan. 19, 2026), Presidents' Day (Monday, Feb. 16), Memorial Day (Monday, May 25), Juneteenth (Friday, June 19), Independence Day (Saturday, July 4), Labor Day (Monday, Sept. 7) and Veteran's Day (Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2026). The table prints New Year's Day only for Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026, with the same pattern as Thanksgiving: no collection, Thursday moves to Friday, Friday moves to Saturday. For New Year's Day on Friday, Jan. 1, 2027, the City's Upcoming Holidays list on the same page gives the date and nothing about collection, so no 2027 shift is published yet. That list also gives 2027 dates only: Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on Mon, Jan 18; President's Day on Mon, Feb 15; Memorial Day on Mon, May 31; Juneteenth on Sat, Jun 19, observed Fri, Jun 18; Independence Day on Sun, Jul 04, observed Mon, Jul 05; and Labor Day on Mon, Sep 06.

Chapter 24 of the Scottsdale Revised Code contains no holiday clause. Section 24-3 directs the director to "make such rules and regulations as may be deemed reasonably necessary concerning the collection, disposal and hauling" of recyclable material and refuse, to be filed with the city clerk. Section 24-14(b) then provides that hours of collection follow those rules and regulations, and that no refuse or recyclable material is collected between 9:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. The published schedule is where the holiday rule itself sits.
