Santee, CA Trash & Recycling: Holiday Pickup Schedule (2026)

Santee Municipal Code § 9.02.305(B)(3) tells the franchised residential collector what to do when a regular collection day lands on a holiday: the collector must still collect on the holiday, or move the pickup to one day before or one day after the holiday. The code defines which days count as a holiday in § 9.02.110: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and any other day the collector's labor union contract designates as a holiday, provided the City Council approves it.

Outside of holiday weeks, residential collection otherwise runs on a fixed weekly cycle under § 9.02.305(B)(1)-(2): at least once every seven days, and only between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday, with the City Council able to change the hours and days. Because the holiday shift is only a day earlier or later, and never skips a week, § 9.02.210's separate seven-day cap on how long solid waste may sit on a premises stays intact even around a holiday.
