Bergenfield Department of Public Works collects garbage and recycling on quadrant-based schedules published annually. Residents must place all recycling, garbage, bulk, and vegetative waste curbside after 6:00 p.m. the night before scheduled pickup, or before 6:00 a.m. the day of pickup. Receptacles must be conveniently located on the premises and maintained to prevent health nuisances. The Borough provides one 96-gallon barrel (or larger) for every three bedrooms in residential structures. Depositing waste into another person's container is prohibited under the Borough Code.
Placing trash out too early, leaving cans at curb past pickup, or dumping in another person's container violates Borough Code and may result in summonses or fines.
