Summary
Brick Township bans curbside setout before 6 p.m. the night before collection and requires empty cans back within three feet of the house by 8 a.m. the next morning.
No person shall place or allow any garbage, refuse or other item to be placed for collection to be so placed any earlier than 6:00 p.m. of the day preceding the date on which such garbage, refuse or other item is to be collected by the Township. Any empty container shall be removed by 8:00 a.m. on the morning following the day of collection to a location which is at least 20 feet from the edge of the pavement or within three feet of the principal dwelling. If any Brick resident wishes to leave any additional or other form of garbage not hereinabove specified, such person shall first call the Department of Public Works and request such garbage to be removed prior to placing it at curbside. The Director of Public Works shall determine whether to remove from the curb such garbage in light of the time, effort and expense of removing and disposing of such garbage. In the event the director of Public Works determines that it is unduly burdensome for the Township to remove such garbage, then the person responsible for the property on which the garbage is located shall be responsible for such removal.

Full Breakdown
Garbage, recycling and bulk items go out no earlier than 6:00 p.m. the day before collection; empty containers must be pulled back to at least 20 feet from the pavement edge or within three feet of the house by 8:00 a.m. the morning after pickup. Garbage goes only in the Township-issued 95-gallon (or purchased 65- or 35-gallon) containers, placed just inside the curbline; recycling goes loose in the blue bin, picked up every other week. Each parcel gets no more than two containers collected.
Violations & Fines
Township employees who find noncompliant setout notify the resident on-site or in writing rather than collecting; the Township is not obligated to pick up garbage left outside the rules, and repeat violators can have collection service suspended or terminated on 10 days' written notice.
