Full Breakdown
Section 21-2.4(d) governs when recyclables can sit at the curb: no earlier than 5:00 p.m. the day before the scheduled pickup, with empty containers removed by 7:00 p.m. on pickup day itself. The same section requires rigid plastic or metal containers under 35 pounds when full, bans plastic bags and cardboard boxes, and bars processing recyclables in a home trash compactor before curbside placement.
Violations & Fines
Recycling left at the curb outside the 5 p.m.-to-7 p.m. window, or set out in bags or boxes instead of rigid containers, doesn't meet the section's placement rules.
