Lima's Utilities Department provides weekly curbside collection of garbage, recycling and yard waste. All garbage and refuse must be placed in standard containers; brush and branch clippings may be tied in bundles not exceeding four feet in length and set at the curb or alley line.
Collection and disposal are governed by Codified Ordinances Chapter 1052 (Garbage and Refuse Collection and Disposal) and administered by the City Department of Utilities under contract. Section 1052.07 requires all garbage and refuse to be placed in standard garbage containers as provided in Section 1052.06; brush and branch clippings may instead be tied securely in bundles not exceeding four feet in length and placed at the curb or alley line, whichever is the usual place of collection. Tree limbs and brush accepted for yard-waste collection are generally up to four feet long and no more than two inches in diameter.
Improperly prepared or non-conforming set-outs may be left uncollected; repeated violations enforced under Chapter 1052 and the Property Maintenance Code, which carry misdemeanor penalties.
