05(c) and (d) of the Middletown Code set the timing window for curbside garbage and rubbish placement, layered on top of the container standard in the same section. No person may place garbage, rubbish, or a container holding either at the curb for pickup more than 48 hours ahead of the scheduled collection time, so cans generally cannot go out until two days before the truck comes. On the other end, no person may leave an empty container in the public right-of-way for more than 24 hours after the scheduled pickup, so the can has to come back off the curb the day after collection.
