Tinley Park, IL Trash & Recycling: Pickup Rules & Schedules (2026)

Homewood Disposal Service provides residential refuse, recycling, and seasonal yard waste collection to Tinley Park under contract. Each residence receives a wheeled refuse cart and a recycling cart. Collection is weekly, with specific pickup days by neighborhood. Refuse must be placed in the cart with the lid closed. Items too large for the cart may require purchase of bulk pickup service or extra stickers. Recycling cart items follow single-stream recycling rules (paper, cardboard, plastic bottles and containers labeled 1, 2, and 5, aluminum and steel cans, glass bottles and jars). No plastic bags, foam, food-soiled items, or tanglers. Yard waste collection is seasonal (April through November typically) and requires yard waste in compostable Kraft paper bags or a designated yard waste cart (for customers who subscribe to that service). Branches must be bundled with twine and less than 4 feet long and 4 inches in diameter. Holiday schedules may shift collection by one day. Illinois law prohibits disposal of landscape waste in regular refuse; yard waste must be composted or collected separately.
