Fayetteville supplies one blue 96-gallon cart per unit for bi-weekly curbside recycling. Set the recycling cart out before 6:00 a.m. on your scheduled day. Recyclables must be inside the cart; oversized flattened cardboard may be placed beside it.
Fayetteville Code Sec. 22-10(I) gives the City Manager authority over recycling collection. The Solid Waste Division provides one blue 96-gallon rollout cart per unit for bi-weekly collection. Residents set the cart out before 6:00 a.m. on the scheduled day and remove it like other carts. Accepted materials include selected glass, newsprint, magazines, aluminum, corrugated cardboard, and plastics numbered 1 through 5. Recyclables should be clean and dry; oversized broken-down boxes may sit next to the cart. No recyclables are collected from household-waste or yard-waste carts. Unincorporated county residents recycle through their town or county sites.
Chapter 22 is enforced by the City Manager or designee; violations carry civil penalties per the Solid Waste Fee Schedule and can be a misdemeanor under N.C.G.S. 14-4. Each day is a separate offense.
