Lehi, UT Trash & Recycling: Yard Waste Collection (2026)

Lehi City Code § 5-1-1 defines 'green waste' as waste from maintaining or removing vegetation, specifically including grass, brush, branches, leaves, flowers, shrubs and small trees, and the city provides a dedicated green waste container for it separate from the trash and recycling carts. Section 5-1-7 limits what can go in each cart: green waste receptacles 'may only be used for approved green waste material,' so bagged trash or construction debris in the green cart is itself a violation. Collection is mandatory and scheduled: § 5-1-11 requires removal of solid waste and green waste from every premises at least once a week for private residences and standard businesses, and twice a week for meat, fish, game and vegetable markets, restaurants, boarding houses, hotels and hospitals.

All green waste receptacles must be kept clean, sanitary and covered except while material is being loaded or emptied (§ 5-1-6). Ownership of set-out green waste passes to the city once it is placed for collection (§ 5-1-3). Rates for the service are set by the city council as part of the consolidated fee schedule (§ 5-1-12), and the resident, not the hauler, remains responsible for keeping the premises in a sanitary condition between pickups (§ 5-1-13).
