Yard waste shall be placed at the curb once a week on a day specified by the public works director or his/her designee and in the amount not to exceed one and one-half (1.5) cubic yards in volume, or eight (8) thirty-two (32) gallon cans. Yard waste shall be collected in cans not to exceed thirty-two (32) gallons in capacity or forty (40) pounds in weight. Yard waste that is too bulky to fit in prescribed containers shall be cut into pieces four (4) feet long, no more than six (6) inches in diameter, tied in bundles not exceeding forty (40) pounds, or one and one-half (1.5) cubic yards in volume. Piles of yard waste in excess of one and one-half (1.5) cubic yards shall be considered the responsibility of the occupant. Piles of yard waste in excess of one and one-half (1.5) cubic yards may be picked up by the city only on special arrangement with the sanitation division at an additional charge set in subsection 10.07(c). The use of plastic bags or city issued garbage cans for yard waste is prohibited.
