St. Louis, MO Trash & Recycling: Yard Waste Collection (2026)

City Code Chapter 11.85 defines yard waste narrowly as leaves, grass clippings, and yard and garden vegetation. City-owned yard waste containers are for residential use only: private lawn service businesses cannot dump clippings into one unless it comes from a residential lot on the same block, and waste loaded onto a lawn service's truck becomes that company's disposal responsibility. Commercial properties, churches, schools, and other nonresidential properties may not use City-owned containers. Yard waste also cannot be placed, moved, or mechanically blown onto public or private streets, walkways, alleys, sidewalks, or roadways, residents are instead encouraged to mulch or compost.
