Summary

Brick Township requires dogs in public places to be on a leash no longer than six feet, and bans letting dogs run at large on streets, in parks, or in public buildings.

No person owning, keeping or harboring any dog shall suffer or permit it to be upon the public streets or in any of the public places of the Township of Brick unless such dog is accompanied by a person and is securely confined and controlled by an adequate leash not more than six feet long.

Full Breakdown

Township Code § 98-13 bars owners from letting a dog onto public streets or public places unless it is accompanied by a person and "securely confined and controlled by an adequate leash not more than six feet long." A companion provision, § 98-12, separately prohibits letting a dog run at large on public streets, in any public park, in any public building, or in any other public place within the Township. A dog owner or handler must also keep the dog off private property belonging to someone else without that owner's consent (§ 98-16).
