Vineland, NJ Building Safety: Building Permits (2026)

Under City Code § 300-3, the fee for a construction permit in the City of Vineland is the sum of the applicable subcode fees, and it must be paid before the Construction Enforcement Agency will issue the permit. New construction is charged at $0.030 per cubic foot of building volume for most use groups, dropping to $0.021 per cubic foot for Use Groups F, S-1 and S-2, and to $0.008 per cubic foot for farm storage or livestock-sheltering structures, capped at $1,060 for those farm buildings.

The minimum construction permit fee is $50 citywide, except $35 for residential lawn sheds of 200 square feet or less. Renovations, alterations and repairs are billed on estimated cost of work at $20 per $1,000, dropping to $15 per $1,000 above $100,000, with a $50 minimum. Additions are billed the same way as new construction for the added portion, and combination renovation-and-addition jobs sum both calculations. A demolition or removal permit runs $75 for one- or two-family residences, residential accessory buildings and farm structures, and $125 for every other use group.

Sign permits cost $1 per square foot of sign face, $50 minimum. Handicapped-accessibility work is exempt from the permit fee entirely under § 300-3D, per N.J.S.A. 52:27D-126e. Plan review adds 20% of the construction permit fee, credited back at issuance.
