Vineland, NJ Building Safety: Electrical Permits (2026)

Under City Code § 300-3A(3), the City of Vineland charges electrical subcode fees on a block basis for receptacles, fixtures and devices such as lighting fixtures, wall switches, smoke and heat detectors, alarm devices and similar fixtures rated 20 amperes or less. The first block, covering one to 50 such items, is billed $55, and each additional block of up to 25 items adds $15. Larger equipment is billed individually: motors and transformers rated one to 10 horsepower or kilowatt cost $15 each, service equipment and panel boards rated up to 225 amperes cost $65, equipment from 225 to 1,000 amperes costs $125, and anything larger costs $425.

Multimeter stacks are billed on the ampere rating of the main bus rather than the number of meters. Every electrical permit, regardless of scope, carries a $55 minimum subcode fee, and public swimming pools require a $75 annual electrical inspection. These fees are collected by the Construction Enforcement Agency within the Department of Licenses and Inspections as part of the overall construction permit required before electrical work begins, alongside the building, plumbing, fire protection and mechanical subcode fees set in the same section.
