Coconut Creek, FL Building Safety: Electrical Permits (2026)

Section 13-85 of the Coconut Creek Code prices electrical permits that are not already covered by section 13-84. The minimum fee for all permits, except as otherwise noted, is $75.00. Each low voltage system is $100.00, demolition is $100.00, and a fire alarm is $200.00. Re-roof A/C disconnects are $20.00 per disconnect, and site or parking lot lighting is $50.00 per pole. A service change, service repair or new service is $150.00. A multifamily premise permit, which requires a yearly maintenance log and as-builts, is $500.00. Fire repair work is $100.00.

Temporary power carries a deadline. A 30-day temporary electric permit costs $150.00. If a certificate of occupancy is not issued within 30 days, the permit can be renewed one time only for $300.00, and if the certificate of occupancy is still not issued within 30 days after renewal, power will be disconnected.

Some electrical work is priced elsewhere. Section 13-84 charges $700.00 for swimming pools and spas, a figure that includes structural, electrical and plumbing work, and $500.00 for mobile homes and construction or sales trailers, which includes structural, electrical, plumbing and mechanical work. Section 13-86 notes that tankless water heaters require a separate electrical permit. Under section 13-84, fees are non-refundable and cannot be applied to any permit application other than the one for which they were paid.

Section 13-85 is a fee schedule. It does not itself name an electrical code edition. The permitting requirement comes from section 13-38, which requires a permit for construction, addition, alteration, repair or change of use of any building, structure or land. Applications are accepted only from the property owner or a licensed, bonded contractor representing the owner and are reviewed by the department of sustainable development. Section 13-38(d)(1) bars issuance except when the work conforms to the Florida Building Code and the chapter, and a permit expires if construction does not commence within 180 days of issuance.
