Coconut Creek, FL Building Safety: Plumbing Permits (2026)

Section 13-86 of the Coconut Creek Code prices plumbing permits that are not already covered by section 13-84. The minimum fee for all permits, except as otherwise noted, is $75.00. A water heater replacement is $65.00 each, irrigation systems are charged $0.75 per head, and LP tanks are charged at 2.5 percent of the total construction cost. Demolition and fire repair are each $100.00, and sub-meters are $10.00 each. A printed note in the section states that tankless water heaters will require a separate electrical permit, so a tankless swap involves both a plumbing fee and an electrical fee under section 13-85.

Some plumbing work is priced inside other fees. Section 13-84 charges $700.00 for swimming pools and spas, a figure that includes structural, electrical and plumbing work, and $500.00 for mobile homes and construction or sales trailers, covering structural, electrical, plumbing and mechanical work. Kitchen upgrades and bathroom upgrades are each $300.00 under section 13-84, and fees there are non-refundable and cannot be applied to any application other than the one for which they were paid.

Section 13-86 is a fee schedule and does not itself name a plumbing code. The permitting requirement is in section 13-38, which requires a building permit for construction, addition, alteration, movement, repair or change to a new or different use of any building, structure or land. Applications are made to the department of sustainable development and are accepted only from the property owner or a licensed, bonded contractor representing the owner. Under section 13-38(d)(1), the director of sustainable development cannot issue a permit except in conformance with the chapter and the Florida Building Code. A permit expires if construction does not commence within 180 days of issuance, and a permit issued in error is null and void.

Processing fees for permits are set by division 4 of the Land Development Code article, and section 13-84 says the total cost of construction can be a figure supplied by the permit holder or an estimate from R. S. Means Building Construction Cost Data. The building official can require a copy of the contract to check the valuation.
