12 of the North Las Vegas Municipal Code adopts the National Electrical Code wholesale. 010 states that the document "marked and designated as 'National Electrical Code, 2023 Edition' published by the National Fire Protection Association, together with all tables of contents, definitions, sections, tables, indexes, examples, and appendices, is hereby adopted by reference and made a part of this chapter, the same as if it was fully set forth herein," except as modified by the city's own Southern Nevada Amendments. Because the NEC is adopted by reference rather than rewritten, contractors and homeowners pulling a permit through the city's Building Safety Division are held to the national code's wiring, grounding, service-panel, and inspection requirements, layered with whatever the Southern Nevada Amendments change locally. Permit applications, plan review, and inspections for new construction, service upgrades, and most repair work run through the same Title 15 building-permit process as mechanical and plumbing work.

Work performed without a permit, or that fails to meet the adopted code, can be red-tagged by the building official until it is brought into compliance, and re-inspection or correction typically requires a new or amended permit application before power is released to the affected circuits.
