Section 18-136 provides that the installation, replacement, alteration, relocation and use of electrical systems or material shall be governed by the Michigan Electrical Code promulgated in Michigan Administrative Code R 408.30801 through R 408.30873, adopted by reference, with complete printed copies on file at the city clerk's office. Section 18-137 makes every violation of the electrical article a municipal civil infraction, punishable by the civil fine set in Section 66-37; the fine schedule lists Section 18-137 (state electrical code) at $70 for a first violation, $150 for a first repeat, and $500 for a second or subsequent repeat.

Section 54-265 requires a nonrefundable $50.00 application fee with each electrical permit application, and Section 54-266 sets a $90.00 reinspection fee. Section 54-262 prices new, extended or altered circuits: $15.00 per circuit, plus itemized add-on fees, for example $90.00 for hot tubs, spas or swimming pools, $180.00 for an EV charging port, and $25.00 for the first 50 lighting fixtures or smoke detectors. Section 54-261 sets temporary or permanent electrical service fees from $30.00 for 100 amps or less up to $150.00 for services over 800 amps.
