Vacaville, CA Building Safety: Green Building Code (2026)

Vacaville adopted the California Green Building Standards Code, 2025 Edition, exactly as amended by the California Building Standards Commission and published as Part 11 of Title 24 of the California Code of Regulations, under Section 15.20.261.010. Unlike the Building, Residential, Plumbing, Mechanical, and Electrical codes adopted in the surrounding chapters of Title 15.20, the city did not layer any local amendments onto CALGreen: Section 15.20.261.010 is a single, direct adoption clause, so the mandatory and voluntary measures builders must meet, covering items like construction waste diversion, water efficiency, and building commissioning, are whatever the statewide code requires for the applicable occupancy and permit type.

Enforcement, though, runs through the same citywide framework as every other adopted construction code in Title 15. Section 15.20.250.101 makes a violation of "the provisions of this title" punishable as a misdemeanor subject to the penalties in Chapter 1.16, with administrative fines available under Chapter 8.10, and treats the violation as a public nuisance subject to abatement. The section also makes each day a CALGreen violation continues, or is permitted to continue, a separate offense, so an uncorrected deficiency found at inspection can accumulate daily exposure until it is fixed.
