Alhambra, CA Building Safety: Plumbing Permits (2026)

11, most recently amended by Ordinances 4807 and 4808 on December 12, 2022, adopts Los Angeles County Plumbing Code Chapters 2 through 17 and Appendices A, B, D, H, I and J of County Code Title 28, as amended through January 1, 2023, which itself adopts the 2022 California Plumbing Code, by reference under Cal. 020(A)). 1) requires a permit from the Building Official before erecting, altering, installing, repairing, moving, improving, removing, connecting or converting any plumbing equipment or fixtures, covering fixtures, traps, tailpieces, valves, and drainage, vent, waste, soil, water or gas piping on any building or premises.

1 is required first for restaurant grease traps or interceptors, sand/grease clarifiers, systems with more than 216 waste fixture units, potable water or fuel gas piping two inches or larger, medium- or high-pressure gas piping, combination waste-and-vent systems, fixtures below the next upstream manhole, chemical waste systems, sump-pump rainwater systems, grey water systems, sewer ejection or lift stations, and penetrations of fire-resistive construction. 2 exempts clearing stoppages or stopping leaks that do not replace piping, swapping residential toilets, bathroom hand sinks, tubs and kitchen sinks without replacing the waste and vent piping (excluding the trap), and connecting a pre-approved appliance to an already-permitted flexible gas shutoff valve.
