Old Bridge, NJ Building Safety: Plumbing Permits (2026)

Old Bridge's plumbing work is inspected by the Plumbing Subcode Official, established under § 108-1A of the Township Code as one of the officials in the Division of Code Enforcement that make up the Township's State Uniform Construction Code enforcing agency, alongside the Construction Official, Building Subcode Official, Fire Protection Subcode Official and Electrical Subcode Official. Fees for that subcode are set item by item in § 108-4C, last amended April 28, 2026 by Ordinance No. 2026-10. Common fixture installations run $25 each, covering a water closet, urinal or bidet, bathtub, lavatory, shower, floor drain, sink, dishwasher, drinking fountain, washing machine or hose bib.

Larger equipment costs more: a steam or hot-water boiler is $150, a water heater is $75, a residential single-fixture sewer pump is $75, rising to $300 for commercial, and a residential air-conditioning water-cooled unit is $50 versus $100 commercial. No matter how few fixtures a job involves, § 108-4C(2) sets the minimum fee for the plumbing subcode at $75. Demolition that includes capping sewer and water services is a flat $100 under § 108-4C(3), and annual backflow-preventer recertification for commercial properties runs $75 per unit under § 108-4C(6).

As with the other subcodes, plumbing permits are folded into the Township's combined construction permit, so the plumbing fee is paid together with the building, electrical and any other applicable subcode fees before the Division of Code Enforcement issues the permit, and a 20% plan review surcharge applies under § 108-4A(5).
