Bossier City, LA Business Licensing & Operations: Towing Companies (2026)

Chapter 118, Article III makes it unlawful to operate or maintain a wrecker or towing service for hire in Bossier City without first obtaining a license from the mayor or his designee, backed by a $10.00 annual fee per wrecker or tow truck. The mayor promulgates rules covering minimum safety equipment, safety standards and public liability insurance for licensed wreckers. For emergency auto wreckers dispatched through the police rotation system, Sec. 118-173 sets the standard tow charge at no more than $50.00 from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Monday through Friday and $60.00 at all other times, covering the trip from the accident scene to the wrecker's place of business or any other city location. Storage fees are capped at $9.00 per day outside, $10.00 per day covered and $12.00 per day inside, with no storage fee chargeable for the first 24 hours. Dolly or slide-roll-back labor is capped at $25.00 unless towing is impossible, and heavy-duty wrecker service is capped at $65.00 per hour with a two-hour minimum. Licensees must keep a numbered wrecker ticket for every tow and maintain a staffed storage facility inside city limits from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. weekdays for record inspection and vehicle redemption.
