Sidewalk Repair
In Omaha, the owner of the lot beside a sidewalk is the party the city holds responsible for building and repairing it. Public Works serves written notice by certified or registered mail, the owner gets 20 days to do the work, and if nothing happens the public works director has the city repair the walk and the council assesses the cost to the abutting property. Owners also carry liability for injuries caused by a defective sidewalk.
