Charlotte County outright bans planting any Category I invasive species from the Florida Exotic Pest Plant Council's list under land development code Sec. 3-9-100.3(m), and existing Category I trees found on a development site must be removed during site preparation. Category II species aren't banned but can't be counted toward a project's required tree points.
