Food Truck Permits

Clayton County lets food truck businesses operate countywide once they hold an occupational tax certificate under the county's Food Truck Business Ordinance (Sec. 6.40). Operators must carry a valid driver's license, current vehicle registration, vehicle insurance and any required state or federal license, and display the tax certificate in the vehicle's front window whenever it is in use.

Clayton County limits food trucks to commercial property with the owner's written, notarized permission, dedicated food truck courts in non-residential parking lots, or residential lots by appointment only, under Sec. 6.40 of the Food Truck Business Ordinance. Trucks may run 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. in a court, must stay 100 feet from any restaurant entrance and cannot set up in a required setback or buffer.
