ADU Rules

Walton County allows one accessory dwelling unit per single-family residential lot under Land Development Code Sec. 2.02.00(B)(3). The ADU cannot exceed 800 square feet of heated and cooled area or 75 percent of the primary home's livable area, whichever is smaller, and a detached ADU cannot exceed the primary dwelling's height, keeping it clearly subordinate to the main house.
