Under Dublin Municipal Code Section 5.100.100, all city parks and recreation areas (including their parking lots) are closed to the public from one hour after sunset until sunrise the next day. The City's parks page describes hours as sunrise until one hour after sunset, with lighted fields, courts, and the skate park closing at 10:00 p.m. Violations are infractions.
Dublin sets park hours in Chapter 5.100 (Parks and Recreation Areas and Facilities) of the Municipal Code. Section 5.100.100 provides that all parks and recreation areas and facilities, including the parking lots serving those areas, shall be closed to the public one hour after sunset and shall remain closed until sunrise the following day. Limited exceptions apply for parking areas serving a building in use (plus one hour after closure), City-authorized programs (plus one hour after completion), and posted lighted field and court schedules. The City's Park Hours and Regulations page summarizes this as parks being open from sunrise until one hour after sunset, while lighted fields, courts, and the skate park close at 10:00 p.m. Section 5.100.030 requires any person entering, being, or remaining in a park to comply with the chapter, which effectively prohibits being in a park after closing hours. Under Section 5.100.160, a violation of the chapter is an infraction, punishable as provided in California Government Code Section 36900(b). The parks page also lists prohibited activities, including off-leash dogs (except in designated dog parks), alcohol and glass containers, smoking in children's and sports areas, camping, fireworks (except permitted July 4th events), drones, and motor vehicles in parks. Anyone planning evening park use should rely on the one-hour-after-sunset closure and the 10:00 p.m. cutoff for lighted facilities.
Being in a Dublin park or its parking lot after the one-hour-after-sunset closing (or after 10:00 p.m. at lighted facilities) violates Chapter 5.100 and is an infraction under Section 5.100.160, punishable per Government Code Section 36900(b).
