Kenner, LA Curfew Laws: Park Curfew (2026)

Adopted by Ordinance No. 12,449 on January 26, 2024, Section 13-90 sets a citywide nightly closing time for every park and playground in the City of Kenner. On weeknights, Monday through Thursday, parks close at 10:00 p.m. and stay closed until 5:00 a.m. the next morning. On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights, the closing window shifts an hour later, running 11:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., recognizing heavier weekend evening use of city recreational grounds. The section carries a single carved-out exception: it does not apply to the Laketown boat launch, docking area, or the parking area designated for vessel trailers, so boaters using the Laketown facility on Lake Pontchartrain are not swept into the general park curfew even though Laketown itself is City of Kenner park property.

The ordinance also gives the city administrative flexibility, allowing the closing schedule to be changed at specific locations, on specific dates, or at specific times, at the discretion of the City of Kenner, to accommodate city operations such as festivals, maintenance, or special events. Section 13-90 does not write its own fine schedule, so a person found in a closed park after hours falls under the Code's general penalty provision, Section 1-9, which covers any act this Code declares unlawful without naming a specific penalty.

Enforcement on the ground rests with the Kenner Police Department, which patrols city parks and playgrounds and can act on a curfew violation the same way it would any other Code violation.
