Gulfport, FL Fence Regulations: Height Limits (2026)

Sec. 7-3(g) applies to all districts used or zoned for residential purposes. Fences may reach six feet in height along a lot's boundary line behind the front setback line and behind the front of the main structure; an interior lot immediately adjacent to a corner lot may extend that six-foot fence forward of its own front setback and main structure line along the boundary abutting the corner lot. Anywhere in front of the main structure, fence height is capped at four feet. Sec. 7-3(g)(3) separately requires a visibility triangle at every trafficked intersection: no wall, fence, hedge or structure may exceed two feet in height between two and eight feet above the roadway centerline within that triangle, measured along the well-defined edge of the travelway.

The triangle's sides run twenty-five feet at street-to-street intersections and ten feet at all other intersections, including alleys and driveways; where no defined pavement edge exists, the city establishes a probable edge using twelve-foot travel lanes, eight-foot alley or easement half-widths, and five-foot single-driveway half-widths. Sec. 7-3(i) carves out one district-wide exception: fences along any lot line adjacent to the Pinellas County Trail public park may rise to ten feet regardless of the standard height limits. Commercial C-1 and C-2 districts follow a separate rule under Sec. 1(a), allowing six-to-eight-foot fences topped with limited barbed wire.
