Bellevue bans ALL consumer fireworks citywide under BCC 9.10 and RCW 70.77; possession or discharge is a misdemeanor with fines up to 1000 dollars.
Bellevue City Code Chapter 9.10 prohibits the sale, possession, and discharge of all consumer fireworks within city limits, adopted under authority of Revised Code of Washington RCW 70.77.250 which allows cities to enact stricter fireworks regulations than state law. The ban covers firecrackers, bottle rockets, Roman candles, aerial shells, sparklers, smoke bombs, and all other consumer-grade fireworks regardless of whether purchased legally elsewhere. Only licensed public display fireworks operated by certified pyrotechnicians with Bellevue Fire Department permits are permitted. Violations are misdemeanors punishable by fines up to 1000 dollars and up to 90 days in jail. Bellevue Police and Fire conduct active enforcement around July 4th and December 31st. Residents are encouraged to attend professional displays at Bellevue Downtown Park or neighboring cities rather than risk citation. Washington state law also prohibits fireworks that fly, explode, or travel laterally more than 1 foot even in jurisdictions where some fireworks are legal.
