Fireworks in unincorporated Dallas County are governed by Texas Occupations Code Chapter 2154 and TX Local Government Code Section 352.051. The Commissioners Court can restrict or prohibit fireworks use in unincorporated areas when drought conditions exist or during a declared disaster. Consumer fireworks (Class C) are legal for purchase and use during approved periods (typically around July 4th, New Year's, and other designated holidays). Aerial display fireworks require a state permit from the State Fire Marshal. The county judge has authority to restrict fireworks use in a declaration of local disaster. Dallas County frequently issues fireworks restrictions during dry conditions.
