DeSoto Code of Ordinances Chapter 38 adopts Texas Occupations Code Ch. 2154 and the IFC Section 5601, which together ban the sale, possession, and use of consumer fireworks (including sparklers per local amendment) inside incorporated city limits. This applies 365 days per year, including July 4 and New Year's Eve. Legal retail sales are only permitted in unincorporated Dallas County areas more than 5,000 feet outside the DeSoto ETJ. Professional pyrotechnic displays (amphitheater, July 4 event) require a state permit and city Fire Marshal approval.
