Glynn County, GA Fire Regulations: Fireworks (2026)

Glynn County Code § 2-9-53(f), within the county's noise ordinance (Article II, Chapter 2-9), makes it unlawful to use, ignite or cause to be ignited any fireworks or consumer fireworks, as defined by O.C.G.A. § 25-10-1, that are plainly audible across a real property boundary line, subject to listed exceptions. Consumer fireworks may be used from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. any day; on January 1, July 3, July 4 and December 31 the window extends from after 9:00 p.m. to 11:59 p.m., and on January 1 an additional window runs from midnight to 1:00 a.m.

On any other day, ignition after 9:00 p.m. and up to 11:59 p.m. requires a permit issued by the Glynn County Police Chief under § 2-9-57. Use on any property owned or controlled by Glynn County is prohibited unless a permit is issued under Chapter 2-26, and use under that permit is capped at 10:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. Fireworks use is also barred wherever prohibited under O.C.G.A. § 25-10-2, and a public exhibition or display requires a permit from the Glynn County Probate Court Judge under O.C.G.A. § 25-10-4, which if issued exempts the display from the ordinance's noise provisions while still requiring compliance with other county ordinances and state law. The Chief of Police enforces the noise ordinance generally under § 2-9-58.
