Glynn County, GA Fire Regulations: Propane Storage (2026)

Chapter 2-7 adopts the NFPA Life Safety Code No. 101 and the International Fire Code, both 2012 editions with Georgia amendments, as the county's Fire Prevention Code, enforced by the Glynn County Fire Marshal under the supervision of the Fire Chief. Section 2-7-4, Storage Tanks, bars outdoor above-ground flammable-liquid tank storage, new bulk plants for flammable liquids, and storage of explosives or blasting agents in any area zoned commercial or residential, or wherever zoning otherwise prohibits such uses. The same section separately caps liquefied petroleum gas storage at 250 gallons in residential areas and 500 gallons in commercially zoned areas, requiring compliance with NFPA 58 in every case.

Amendments to the Fire Prevention Code adopted by the State of Georgia are automatically incorporated into the county's code except for portions the Board of Commissioners has specifically deleted, modified, or amended. A property owner who believes strict compliance creates a practical difficulty may apply in writing to the Fire Marshal for a modification, and a denial can be appealed first to the Fire Chief within 15 days, then to the Board of Commissioners within 30 days of the Fire Chief's decision.
