State rules at 41 Ill. Adm. Code 200 incorporate NFPA 58, the Liquefied Petroleum Gas Code, by reference, making it the uniform standard statewide. Container setback distances, tank capacity limits at residences, and dispensing operations are governed by these state rules and are not subject to override by municipalities. Sellers, installers, and transporters must hold state licenses. Most homes are limited to small portable cylinders unless properly permitted larger tanks meet setback requirements.
