Weston, FL Food Trucks & Mobile Vendors: Food Truck Permits (2026)

Weston Code of Ordinances Chapter 89 sets two layers of requirements before a mobile food unit can lawfully operate. Section 89.03(L) makes it a prohibited act for any Mobile Vendor to vend without holding all required licenses and permits or without having all required safety equipment on the Mobile Vending Vehicle, and it specifically requires the vendor to carry written approval from the Broward County Health Department for the operation of the business. Layered on top of that licensing requirement, § 89.02 imposes cooking-equipment standards for any vendor that prepares food on board: every Mobile Vendor must keep at least one class ABC fire extinguisher rated a minimum of 4A40BC within 30 feet of the cooking equipment, fully charged and inspected and tagged by a state-licensed certifying agency.

A vendor using an open-flame grill must add a pressurized water extinguisher within the same 30-foot radius, and one that fries food must add a K-Class extinguisher plus a commercial kitchen exhaust hood and duct system with an automatic fire-suppression system, backed by proof of an annual hood-suppression inspection and a hood cleaning within the last six months. Section 89.02(B) further requires that any LP or propane cylinders be in place for a fire inspector's visual inspection on the day of the event and kept at least 10 feet from open flame, trash, or combustible material. Weston's Code Compliance division and the Broward Sheriff's Office fire-rescue inspectors, operating under contract, verify this equipment and documentation before and during vendor operations.
