Woodland, CA Food Trucks & Mobile Vendors: Food Truck Permits (2026)

Woodland Municipal Code § 17.84.250(B) requires every stationary mobile vendor operating on private property to hold a Mobile Vendor Permit issued under Chapter 5.44 of the Municipal Code, and it caps the number of permits for stationary mobile food facilities or other motorized vending conveyances at 13 citywide. Once all 13 are issued, the Community Development Director places further applicants on a first-come permit availability list and works through it in order as slots open up. A separate carve-out in subsection C exempts a brick-and-mortar restaurant's own mobile vending conveyance, one per restaurant, operated under the same business license and name, from the 13-permit cap entirely, though a restaurant that wants to host more than one affiliated mobile vendor as a commissary needs Community Development and Public Works approval, plus Yolo County Environmental Health sign-off as the commissary.

Location standards under subsection G route permitted stationary vending into the Corridor Mixed-Use, Community Commercial Mixed-Use, Regional Commercial-Flex, Regional Commercial, and Industrial Flex zones, plus Downtown zones when paired with an existing brick-and-mortar restaurant on the same or a proximate site; vending is barred outright in residential areas and within 100 feet of any Residential Low, Low-Medium, Medium, or High zone. A shopping center or building must also be at least 50% occupied by square footage before a vendor can be approved there or renewed, and the City Traffic Engineer and Fire Marshal must review and approve access, drainage, and sanitation for each site.
