Colorado Springs, CO Food Trucks & Mobile Vendors: Vending Zones (2026)

UDC § 7.3.305.C, Mobile Vending Truck, Temporary, states the use is allowed in any zone district and may not exceed three consecutive days at a time, no permit is named for a stand-alone stop kept inside that window. The Code defines a Mobile Vending Truck broadly as any wagon, truck, trailer, or self-propelled vehicle from which someone sells, offers for sale, or gives away beverages, food, flowers, arts, crafts, or similar items. A different provision applies when a truck or cart operates from a commercial retail center's lot: § 7.3.305.I, Vendor in Commercial Retail Center, Temporary, requires the retail property owner to obtain a permit and get the owner's consent, caps the center at three temporary vendors operating at once, requires signage to meet the temporary-sign standards of § 7.4.1307, and sends any tent or temporary structure to the Fire Code Official and Regional Building Department for compliance review.

Any temporary use involving food sales, the core of a food-truck operation, needs approval from the El Paso County Public Health Department under that same subsection. The retail-center vendor permit expires twelve months after issuance but may be administratively renewed on a new application showing continued compliance.
