Shreveport food trucks may only operate where a permanent business already holds a certificate of occupancy, in zoning districts the Use Matrix allows. Vacant lots and single-family or two-family residential property are off limits.
Trucks stay at least 100 feet from any restaurant's main entrance, 100 feet from outdoor dining, 50 feet from a permitted vending cart, 15 feet from fire hydrants and 10 feet from driveways, sidewalks, ramps and fire lanes. Lot caps allow two trucks on a half acre or less, three up to one acre, four above an acre; five or more require a food truck park, temporary use permit or special event permit. In the public right-of-way a unit fits within eight feet by 35 feet, keeps 25 feet from intersections and bus stops, takes no more than two parking spaces, and stays 500 feet from schools between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. on school days.
Zoning citations go to the host property owner as well as the vendor. The zoning administrator may revoke the license, and police may cite the operator directly.
