Moore, OK Garage & Yard Sales: Frequency, Duration & Permits (2026)

Chapter 9-6, Article 9-6A of the Moore Code of Ordinances requires a license from the city clerk before anyone may hold a residential sale, defined at Sec 9-601 to include a garage, porch, room, backyard, front yard or patio sale, or any general sale of goods to the public from a location not zoned for such sales. Sec 9-602 caps eligibility at one license per location in any three-month period unless the property has changed lawful possession, and Sec 9-604 limits each license to a period not exceeding three consecutive days.

Sec 9-607 restates the core frequency limit directly: no person may hold, conduct, engage in, participate in, or allow a residential sale on premises under his control or ownership more than one time in any three-month period, subject only to the exceptions in the article. Those exceptions, listed at Sec 9-610, cover court-ordered sales, sales by public officials acting within their duties, and sales conducted by a duly licensed auctioneer. A weather-related exception exists too: Sec 9-602 allows a rain check license for a sale rained out or seriously delayed, usable within 21 days of the original dates, but only once per three-month period. The city clerk may also investigate an applicant under Sec 9-604 before issuing any license.
