Dublin home occupations may not advertise on the premises. Under Municipal Code Chapter 8.64, the only identification allowed is a house number and nameplate per Section 8.84.140.D. One company vehicle up to 3/4-ton may be parked at the home with a logo no larger than 9 square feet per side.
Dublin Zoning Ordinance Chapter 8.64 (Home Occupations Regulations) states there shall be no advertising sign, window display, or other identification of the home occupation on the premises other than a house number and nameplate as permitted by Section 8.84.140.D (House Numbers and Name Plates) of the Sign Regulations. The City's 'Starting a Home-Based Business' guidance reinforces that home-based businesses may not display signage or business identification. The one allowance involving visible branding is for a vehicle: one company vehicle (truck, van, or automobile only) no larger than 3/4-ton capacity may be parked in a residential zoning district in connection with a home occupation and may carry a company name and/or logo not exceeding 9 square feet per side, but it shall not be used as a sign platform solely to advertise or attract people to the home occupation. Window displays and yard or wall signage advertising the business are not permitted, keeping the residential character of the neighborhood intact.
Posting a business sign, window display, or other on-premises advertising for a home occupation, or using a company vehicle as an advertising platform, can be pursued by Dublin Code Enforcement as a Zoning Ordinance / Sign Regulations violation and may jeopardize the home occupation's Business License. Illegal signs are subject to removal under the Sign Regulations.
