Section 95.01(A)(5), part of Chapter 95 Property Maintenance in Title IX of the Weston Code, folds tree and shrub trimming into the residential maintenance duties every Single-Family property owner and homeowners' association must meet. The Code states that trees and shrubs must be regularly pruned to prevent obstruction of required sight distance triangles, traffic control devices, and pedestrian clearance, and must not be allowed to become overgrown. A later sentence in the same subsection bars any vegetation, other than a tree canopy kept high enough for clearance, from reaching into a vehicle, pedestrian, or bicycle travel lane.

The obligation runs with ownership: whoever owns or operates the Single-Family lot or its Association Property inside Weston's corporate limits answers for compliance, not a tenant or contracted landscaper. Code Compliance officers watch for corner-lot and cul-de-sac hedges that creep over a stop sign or crosswalk, since those are the exact hazards the sight-triangle language targets. A property found in violation is processed under Chapter 31 Code Enforcement: the City issues a warning and compliance deadline, and if the obstruction persists, a Special Magistrate hearing under § 31.22 can impose a fine of up to $1,000 per day for a first violation, up to $5,000 per day for a repeat violation, and up to $15,000 per violation if the obstruction is deemed irreparable.

Unpaid fines record as a lien against the property. Root pruning tied to sidewalk heaving is handled separately under § 95.03(D), which requires a City-registered tree service to make the cuts. Because the sight-triangle and travel-lane rules sit inside the general property-maintenance chapter rather than a stand-alone landscaping ordinance, there is no permit process for routine pruning, only the standing duty to keep growth clear.
