Section 124.37.3(A) confines synthetic turf to single-family and duplex properties, and only in the rear and side yard between the back and side of the structure, kept five feet from the property line, or as part of an overall paver driveway or front walkway design; front lawns are not an approved location outside that driveway/walkway exception. Section 124.37.3(B) sets product standards: the turf must simulate live grass and carry a minimum eight-year no-fade warranty, use cut-pile infill fiber between 1.75 and 2.5 inches tall (putting greens may run as low as a quarter inch), weigh at least 75 ounces per square yard, be manufactured from polyethylene monofilament dual-yarn material made in the United States, use a permeable backing, and be lead-free and flame retardant.

Installation standards in section 124.37.3(C) require a Florida-licensed general contractor, a graded porous crushed-rock base at least three inches deep, edges and seams anchored per the manufacturer's specification with no visible seams, a minimum six-foot clearance from any tree or palm and 12-inch clearance from hedges, shrubs, or ground cover, and an infill medium of clean silica sand brushed into the fibers for ballast and cushioning. Section 124.37.3(D) layers on additional standards requiring that living plant material still be installed and maintained alongside the turf, since synthetic turf does not count toward the minimum required landscaped area calculation for the lot.
