Conroe Sec. 26-33 declares uncultivated weeds and brush exceeding 12 inches a public nuisance when within 100 feet of neighboring structures. Code Enforcement handles complaints and may abate at owner's expense.
The same provision that governs grass height (Sec. 26-33) covers weeds and brush. Any uncultivated plant growth, excluding trees, that exceeds 12 inches in height within 100 feet of a neighboring residence, public building, or commercial establishment is a public nuisance. This applies to all property types including vacant lots. Code Enforcement officers may proactively cite visible violations or respond to complaints. Abatement notices are sent with a compliance deadline. If not remedied, the city may hire contractors to clear the weeds and place a lien on the property for costs.
Public nuisance citation under Sec. 26-33; fines up to $2,000. City may abate and lien the property for abatement costs.
