Lake Havasu City, AZ Noise Ordinances: Amplified Music & Outdoor Sound (2026)

Section 9.30.060(A) targets amplified sound reproduction devices directly: stereos, speakers and any other equipment that plays back amplified music. No person may operate such a device in a manner that raises the total sound level above the permissible limits set out in the section's own table, measured either on the affected property or, where a complainant specifically cites a disturbing bass component, from inside the complainant's residence. For Noise Zone I, residential property, that indoor-measured table sets 45 dB(C) from 10:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. and 55 dB(C) from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

As with the general standards in § 9.30.050, it is unlawful for anyone in the city or its extraterritorial jurisdiction to create noise that exceeds these standards as a five-minute average, or that spikes more than 10 dB(C) above the limit at any moment. The measurement is taken from whichever property is most affected, using the noise zone of the source, and enforcement follows the same chain as every other noise violation: the Lake Havasu City Police Department cites the offense under § 9.30.080, and § 9.30.090 sets the fine.

Section 9.30.060 also separately regulates sound trucks and vehicle-mounted loudspeakers, which need a police permit under subsection (B), and motor vehicle repair noise between 10:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. in residential areas under subsection (C), showing the amplified-sound rule is one piece of a broader special-sources scheme.
