Greenwich, CT Noise Ordinances: Leaf Blower Rules (2026)

Section 6B-6(e) of the Code of Ordinances sets Greenwich's leaf-blower hours within its domestic power-tool rules. Subsection (e)(3) bars operating "any leaf blower between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. Monday through Friday and between 3:00 p.m. and 9:00 a.m. Saturday, Sunday and Holidays," leaving an allowed weekday window of 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and a weekend/holiday window of 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Subsection (e)(4) separately bars commercial use of gasoline-powered leaf blowers in residential zones on Sundays altogether, on top of the hourly limit.

Subsection (e)(5) limits any commercial or residential parcel of one-quarter acre or less to a single leaf blower running at a time. Subsection (e)(6) adds a seasonal gas-blower ban in residential zones running "from 6:00 p.m. the Friday before Memorial Day through September 30, inclusive," except that parcels of two or more acres get a longer season ending the day after Labor Day, and the code notes that penalties for that provision are levied starting in 2025. Section 6B-8(d) narrows the general exemption side: domestic power tools may otherwise run 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., but leaf blowers are exempt only between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. weekdays and 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. on weekends and holidays, matching the (e)(3) hours rather than the broader tool exemption.
