Doral, FL Noise Ordinances: Vehicle Noise (2026)

Section 26-128 of the Doral Code of Ordinances lists three separate vehicle-related acts as unreasonably loud, excessive, unnecessary, or unusual noise. Subsection (1) bars sounding any horn or signaling device on a vehicle on a street or public place except as a danger warning, prohibits creating an unreasonably loud or harsh sound with a signaling device, and specifically prohibits sounding any such device continuously or intermittently for more than 60 seconds. Subsection (5) prohibits discharging the exhaust of any steam engine, stationary internal combustion engine, or motor vehicle into the open air except through a muffler or other device that effectively prevents unreasonably loud or explosive noise.

Subsection (6) targets vehicles in disrepair or improperly loaded, barring the use of an automobile, motorcycle, jet ski, water bike, recreational vehicle, dirt bike, or other motor vehicle so out of repair, loaded, or operated as to create unreasonably loud or unnecessary grating, grinding, rattling, or other noise within a residential area. These provisions sit apart from the separate motor-vehicle burglar-alarm standard in § 26-131 and from the state-preempted noise exemption in § 26-133(8) for vehicles operated and equipped in accordance with state statute, which applies only to noise otherwise regulated under state, not city, standards.

A code compliance officer investigates a complaint under § 26-134 and, on confirming a violation, issues a notice, with § 26-135 setting a $100 civil fine for a first offense and $500 for a second or later offense within one year.
